Tai faces off with Boston to get the truth about Hottie. I’m Happy to have contributed to the reviews of this Wonderful Old Show. I hope that everyone enjoys “My Reviews”.
For such an old series, the episodes look fantastic. A few of them have some dirt and grime but for a year old show, “Hazel” has probably never looked better. As sitcoms age, it is common to notice weaknesses in the writing but that isn’t the story with Season Three of “Hazel. Shirley Booth continues to be amazing, and it really seems the award-winning actress was just hitting her stride.
Seldom can an actress bring such a wide range of emotions to a viewer, but when her lips tremble and she breaks into tears, I found myself also feeling sad for her.
But there are way more laughs here than tears; her relationship with Mr. If anyone knows the background story behind her absence during those first few episodes of this third season, I’d be curious to know the details. There are also a few guest-starring roles of note, most notcieably a very, very young Diane Ladd as an annoying family cousin that will have viewers saying to themselves that she looks just like her daughter, Laura Dern.
I can’t laud Shout Factory! Those of us that are fans of classic television will be forever grateful. If you enjoyed the first two seasons of “Hazel”, you won’t be disappointed with Season Three. DVD set works great. As a child, I remember loving this show, along with the other classics of the late s and s.
Although too young to remember some of them, I was old enough to remember Hazel. The family consists of “Mr. B” the attorney and head of the family, although if truth be known, I always felt Hazel was the one in charge. Missy, George’s wife, has known Hazel since she was a child and is the perfect complement to her husband. An interior decorator with excellent taste, she and Hazel have a very loving relationship and Missy can be counted on to run interference when Hazel and Mr.
B butt heads. Then there is the adorable Harold, better known as “Sport,” who is such a sweet little boy who worships Hazel and considers her a hero. The acting is superb and the storylines are anything but sappy.
This series proves that wholesome programs have a place in society and with it, there is always a valuable lesson to be learned. And while all of them are no longer with us, it is comforting that their brilliance is on record and the days when the simple things were the best can truly live on! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I remember watching Hazel when I was about 10 years old and I liked it very much. And I still like watching the show years later.
George Baxter grumbles when Hazel spends half her time helping the neighbors but when she brings home one of their babies – and asks him to be its sitter – he puts his foot down. Directed By. Release Date. Cast of Hazel. Shirley Booth Hazel Burke. Bobby Buntrock Harold Baxter. Whitney Blake Dorothy Baxter. Don DeFore George Baxter. Ann Jillian Millie. Lynn Borden Barbara Baxter. Ray Fulmer Steve Baxter. Maudie Prickett. If the kid gets a dog, he has the same dog from then on. If a neighbor or relative shows up in an episode, they usually reappear in a later episode.
OK, Mr. B’s injured hand skips around a bit. Had me curious how he really broke it. My favorite scene stealers are the Johnsons next door. An elderly couple so sheltered by their privileged upbringings that they have never learned to operate the simplest household appliance. Naturally they always seem to be left without staff, so Hazel must come to their rescue. The joy they express at solving the complex puzzle of getting the TV plugged in is too much!
Like most shows around that time, there is a complete lack of diversity on the show, but recognizing the era, I will take issues ignored over poorly portrayed stereotypes that make me cringe. Especially when I’m looking for a little escapism in place of the news. For the reviewer who complained of the slumber party episode, come on!
It is totally explained why Hazel wants to be a part of the kid’s party. She loves kids, and lost her parents at a young age, so missed her own childhood.
That episode really drove home that she is part of the family, and how much she is loved by the Baxters. There is nothing but laughs and good feelings to be had from this show. My wife started watching with me, then went back to catch the ones she missed. My mother in-law and sister both have gotten hooked, and gush about the show too. It is a cozy, satisfying, and hilarious show.
Just the cure for winding down after a long day! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. LOVE hazel and this is exactly what is says it is Report abuse. Love It!!!!!!!!!! I love just how un-complicated even the most complicated things are from this era It would be nice if we could get a little of that back today. Hazel runs the house but I like how she lets Mr. Baxter think he does! My favorite thing about little Harold is that he never talks, he yells all of his lines, he’s always SO exicted and Dorothy, well, she’s the perfect housewife who happens to have a maid and works part time as an interior designer.
Shirley Booth absolutely shines as Hazel A hidden gem to be sure! For anyone who likes good clean humor Hazel is for you! You would think that a TV show about a maid would be boring I mean what could they write about.
There are many laughs and silly situations to keep you interested. Hazel is a strong-minded fully rounded character that has a lot of heart. Her love for the family she works for is evident in every thing she does, even if she is scheming to get her way and giving her blunt opinions about everything!
The family loves her just as much as she loves them! I would recommend this show to everyone ; When is the second season comming out, I can’t wait!
